Dating Site Dumps 30,000 "Ugly People," Feigns Remorse !

BeautifulPeople.com is an online dating site where only hotties go to hook-up, or at least that's how it's supposed to be. The self-proclaimed "exclusively beautiful community" is made up of shallow Hals and Haleys who have been voted in by other members while less attractive singles are shown the virtual door. That is, until a virus opened the floodgates letting in 30,000 "less than aesthetically pleasing" people to mingle with the elite.
Greg Hodge, managing director of the superficial dating website, told the U.K.'s Guardian he believes the 'Shrek' virus may have been posted by a disgruntled former employee. It's being called Shrek based on the animated character that attempts to teach kids how looks don't (or shouldn't) matter.
"We have to stick to our founding principles of only accepting beautiful people -- that's what our members have paid for," Hodge said. "We can't just sweep 30,000 ugly people under the carpet."
Hodge told the Guardian he "got suspicious when tens of thousands of new members were accepted over a six-week period, many of whom were no oil painting." Erasing them from the dating site's canvas has so far cost the site's operators more than $112,000 in refunds to 4,500 of the 30,000 who paid $25 a month for membership, though this isn't the first time BeautifulPeople.com has had to remove thousands of members. The site kicked out 5,000 members last year after they appeared to put on weight during the holiday season.
Hodge said he felt "very sorry" for the "unfortunate people who were wrongly admitted to the site and believed, albeit for a short time, that they were beautiful."
