The term “Jelly Bean” apparently follows Google's long tradition of naming its Android operating systems after sweets. The previous versions of Android were named as Donut 1.6, Eclair 2.1, Froyo 2.2, Gingerbread 2.3, Honeycomb 3.0 and now the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich.
Presently, eyes are set on Ice Cream Sandwich update, which is said to be the universal Android operating system. The update will merge previous operating systems Gingerbread and Honeycomb and unify them into one OS that is compatible with the tablets and phones. According to reports, the Google Nexus Prime, Samsung's next Android smartphone, will be the first device to run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
