Hackers Topple Minecraft, Eve Online, League of Legends, More – In One Day !

What did you do yesterday? Go to work? Read a book? Breathe? Well, given the way unstoppable hacking force of nature Lulz Security spent its past 24 hours, we're guessing quite a few people are wishing it'd stop doing that last thing. After steamrolling everyone from Nintendo to Bethesda, Lulz Sec upped its game, punching gaping holes in four major gaming outlets – in a single day.
Ars Technica combed through the scraps and pieced together a quick blow-by-blow of the virtual-world-destroying catastrophe. In a nutshell, though, popular (and excellent) website The Escapist went down first, followed by Eve Online, Minecraft, and League of Legends. In the latter three cases, Lulz Sec hurled its collective might at log-in servers until everything else came crashing down as well.
The group dubbed the whole thing “Titanic Takeover Tuesday,” which makes us thankful that other days of the week are slightly more challenging when it comes to alliteration. At any rate, gaming companies, please get on the ball here – preferably with a security system capable of delivering iron-mailed punches to the eye socket.
